Job description:
Front of the House – Participants will be hired into the following positions. Must be flexible with assignment. Hosts – $2.53 + tips per hour. As a restaurant host or hostess, participants will be greeting guests arriving at the restaurant, welcoming and seating them. The responsibilities of the host include monitoring the open dining sections of the restaurant for empty and cleaned tables, estimating wait times for guests, monitoring the guest waiting list, and ensuring that the needs of the guests are met while they are waiting. Server – $2.53 + tips per hour. As a server, participants will be taking customers’ orders, serving food and beverages, preparing itemized checks, and sometimes accepting payment. Servers also need to be familiar with the menu, with how the food is prepared, what it tastes like and if special requests are allowed. Bartender – $6.00 + tips per hour. Must be 21 years of age. While working as a bartender, participants will be serving and making beverages for customers as well as maintaining supplies and taking inventory for the bar. Busser – $2.53 + tips per hour. A busser’s job duties include clearing tables, taking dirty dishes to the dishwasher, setting empty tables and otherwise assisting the waiting staff. Responsibilities may also include bringing water and introductory foods to the table when guests first sit down. * Participants must be willing to clean with various chemicals, take out trash and may also be required to clean restrooms. Must also be able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs and stand for long periods of time. * All are tipped positions. Wages on average equate to $10 – 20 per hour.
Back of the House – Participants will be hired into the following positions. Must be flexible with assignment. Cook – $12.50 per hour. As a cook, participants will be responsible for much of the food production in the kitchen to prepare menu items. Job duties include assisting in all aspects of food preparation, as well as, keeping the kitchen clean and operational. Participants in this position must possess basic cooking skills and will be operating a variety of food service equipment, including knives, pots and pans, ovens and grills and food processors. Prep Cook – $12.50 per hour. As a prep cook, participants will be assisting cooks in preparing food and dishes that need to be served. Employees will also be washing dishes either using a dishwasher to clean plate and glassware or cleaning pots and pans by hand. Additionally, participants will be responsible for maintaining a clean workstation, assisting kitchen staff when required and assisting in overall kitchen cleanliness. Dishwasher – $12.50 per hour. A dishwasher’s primary duties include scraping, racking and stacking glassware/plate ware/silverware properly in the dishwasher and washing pots, dishes, etc. by using hand or dish equipment. Dishwashers then restock all ware when clean. Additional duties include removing garbage and recyclable materials from the kitchen area to appropriate receptacles as well as sweeping and mopping. Dishwashers are responsible for maintaining a clean workstation, assisting kitchen staff when required and assisting in overall kitchen cleanliness. * Participants must be willing to clean with various chemicals, take out trash and may also be required to clean restrooms. Must also be able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs and stand for long periods of time. Work environment may be hot and damp.
